Boops: Pop Balloons is a bubble-popping game. The player must shoot and pop hanging bubbles that drop at random down a field in front of different gradient-purple patterns. They attempt to earn the highest possible all-time score. They also try to pop bubbles that look like swirl-style hard candies to reveal hidden collectible items.
The player receives two projectiles in the lower center position. The main one rests atop the edge of the round-corner frame that surrounds the field. The preview rests right below the main. When both projectiles are the same color, the positioning creates a unique mirror effect. The player pops bubbles by creating a cluster of three or more identical ones with the main projectile. Any non-matching ones that are only attached to the cluster also pop in place.
Although the game features scoring similar to endless games, it doesn't allow the player to play forever. Instead, the player reaches the end of a round, and the score goes back to zero. They must then try to beat their best score and collect new items via replay. If they allow the bubbles to reach the projectile area, they fail and must restart.
Boops: Pop Balloons gives the player access to their special item collection and week, month and year leaderboard rankings on the home screen. That said, this is all the game provides them.
Warning: This game sometimes allows a projectile to roll mysteriously up a sidewall and around a hanging bubble when there's no gap to fill. It swaps the projectile with another bubble. As a result, the player might fail to pop a cluster of bubbles.
